Welcome to AHA
Thank you for being part of our community.
With 30,000 patients, we are proud to play an important role in serving the Seaford community. And we aim to make it as easy as possible for new patients to join us.
Here’s an overview of key information, and if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.
General Appointments
Consultations normally last 10-15 minutes however, if you need more time, please discuss this with the receptionist when making your appointment. All medicals, first antenatal visits and minor surgical procedures require special bookings.
Cancelled Appointments
Appointments are to be cancelled a minimum of 2 hours prior to the allocated appointment time. Failure to do this will attract a fee.
Urgent Appointments
Provision is made for urgent appointments. If you need urgent assistance please let the receptionist know.
In the case of sudden chest pain or major trauma, dial 000 to request an ambulance.
Walk-In Appointments
Because our clinics are fully booked every day, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate walk-in appointments. To make a booking please click here.
Specialist Appointments
If your doctor requires you to see a specialist, it is often more convenient for you to make your own appointment direct with the specialist’s rooms. However, if you are unable to arrange this, the receptionist will be happy to assist you.
Please enquire about any necessary referrals to a specialist when consulting with your doctor.
Important information before your appointment
Before you attend AHA Clinics, please read this important information.
Due to the rising cost of healthcare in Australia, doctors at AHA Clinics can no longer bulk bill all patients.
For the latest billing information, please click here.
If you require further clarification, please ask one of our friendly staff.
It can be difficult to always run to time and delays are sometimes unavoidable in a medical environment due to emergencies and difficult cases.
If the doctor is running behind by more than 30 minutes we will try to let you know before your appointment time.
Home visits are available to our regular patients (within a 5km radius) where their condition prevents them from attending the surgery.
Please let your doctor know if you require this service.
Note: Bulk billing does not routinely apply to home visits.
Although most problems are best handled via direct consultation, a doctor will always be available during normal surgery hours for emergency advice.
A reminder system is available to encourage you to book for routine investigations and/or immunisations.
If you would like to register for one of our reminders, please let our receptionist know, or discuss it with your doctor.
We recommend all females who are sexually active to have a Cervical Screening every 5 years (or more often as advised by your doctor).
All patients are asked to return to see their doctor for test results.
No results will be given over the telephone.
An SMS reminder will be sent to your mobile phone the day before your appointment. However, this is a clinic courtesy service, we ask that you still set your own reminders.
It is the clinics requirements that a minimum of 2 hours notice is given for cancellation of all appointments. Non attendance fees will apply.
If you do not wish to receive SMS reminders please inform our receptionists.
Patients need to make an appointment to see a doctor for referrals & sick certificates.
It is not medically safe to issue a prescription without a consultation. Therefore we request that you check your prescription requirements prior to a consultation. All prescriptions will require you to visit the doctor.
In an Emergency, the ambulance number is 000.
If you need treatment outside our normal opening hours you can phone the National Home Doctor Service on 13SICK (137 425).
For patients with impairments and disabilities, we have accessible parking spaces, a drive up pharmacy, accessible bathrooms, ground floor consult and procedure rooms and low level reception desk for easy wheelchair access.
We have a large car park with ample free parking for our patients to make use of.
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised members of staff.
Further, our practice follows the “Code of Practice for the Management of Health Information in Medical Practices” developed by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
This means that your personal health information is kept private and secure. The approach used in this Code is consistent with the provisions of Federal and State Privacy Legislation.
From time to time our practice undergoes quality control audits (for accreditation) which include a review of medical records. These reviews are carried out by another qualified doctor (not from this practice), on a small number of randomly selected medical records. If you do not want your notes to be reviewed in this way, please let our receptionist know and we will ensure your notes are not included in any quality control audit.
Your feedback is important to us.
Please email enquiries@seafordmedical.com.au and we’ll respond as soon as possible.
We also have regular surveys and feedback boxes in each clinic for you to provide any comments.
